Counselling

Counselling can provide an opportunity to talk to someone who is trained to listen. It can help you make sense of the feelings experienced and enable you to see the difficulty in a more manageable way.

We provide a professional service in a confidential and safe setting. Our Counselling Services provide one-to-one counselling, and group therapy, and includes the following areas of expertise:

The Crisis Service for people suffering a mental health crisis.

The African, African/Caribbean Counselling Service for people of African or African/Caribbean ethnicity (offered in a variety of languages)

The Asian Counselling Service for people of Asian ethnicity (offered in a variety of languages)

The Eastern European Counselling Service for people of Eastern European ethnicity (offered in a variety of languages)

A CBT Service for people with mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression

A telephone counselling and signposting service, Mind line

Clients can self refer to any of these services by ringing our Mindl ine Service on 020 8853 1735.

All clients have an initial assessment where a decision is made on what the most appropriate treatment is for them. You will be given an opportunity to talk about your difficulties, and you will also find out more about the service.

If you would benefit from further counselling, we will arrange for you to see a counsellor on a regular basis. How long you have to wait will depend on your needs and availability.

We can help you deal with any problems that are causing emotional distress. Some examples would be:

1.   Anxiety
2.   Bereavement
3.   Family issues
4.   Cross Cultural issues
5.   Relationships
6.   Sexual abuse
7.   Trauma

We will make every effort to place you with a counsellor who is best equipped to deal with your problem.
